Lying Down to Help Others Stand Up

Walking in to the Center for Translational Research in Aging and Longevity (CTRAL) research area, you hear laughter. Participants are laughing. Researchers are laughing. Jokes. Stories about life. Talk of what will be their first meal when they leave. Most laughter ensues.
There is technology available to keep entertained, but they aren’t using any of it. Televisions are off. Laptops closed. Entertainment this day is a book. And conversation. Modern amenities are replaced with more basic ones.  
Two people. They didn’t know each other over a week ago. Even as they lie in hospital like beds, separated by a privacy screen, they are getting along as if they were old friends. 
This place and these beds have been their lives for over a week
